30 Things About Me Tag: Day 2
Saturday, August 30, 2014Well, as I predicted, I wouldn't be doing this everyday! To be honest I kind of prefer it this way as then I won't panic when I haven't done my post for the day!
2. Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
1. Spiders (Arachnophobia) - This is by far my worst fear of all! Just hours ago I was having a mini-freak out whilst teaching as there was a HUGE gangly spider dangling around outside the window! I've never liked looking at spiders, how they feel when they crawl across you skin, or how Ron Weasley puts it; "I just don't like the way they move..." I also can't even look or touch them when they are dead!
One thing that irritates me so much is when people post pictures of gigantic spiders they have found on Facebook - I just can't go on the site until enough time has passed for the picture to not go back to the top of the page!
I would post a picture to go along with this topic, but no, I just cannot bring myself to do it.

2. Boats/Deep Water (Aquaphobia?) - I guess my fear of being on boats stems from being afraid of deep water. Until last year, I managed to avoid going swimming anywhere for about 10 years! I think the whole water issue comes from that I'm quite petite and I do not like it when I cannot feel the bottom of the pool with my feet. Hence deep water = no feet on floor.
With boats, I'm always petrified of the thought they could sink (yes I know there is a very slim chance but hey, whatever), watching Titanic when it came out didn't help and I get sea-sick too! I was persuaded to actually go on a boat in Paris a few years ago by my boyfriend, I was an absolute state but I can say I did it :) (For the record, it wasn't moving but it's the point that counts)

3. Crowds (Demophobia) - I wasn't afraid of crowds until I nearly got crushed to death at a Sum 41 gig when I was about 17. I was stuck in the middle of a crowd of 30-year old guys who still thought they were teenagers themselves and were separating me from my friends, elbowing me in the face and trying to drag me down to the floor. My friend had to drag me out otherwise I would have been seriously injured. Since then I panic whenever I am in a crowd of people, whether it be at a concert or swarms of people leaving firework displays.
I did try going into the crowd at Leeds Festival in 2010 to watch All Time Low as I thought a crowd of teenage girls would be pretty tame...I was so wrong! My brother had to haul me out as I was panicking and I ended up spending the rest of the day against the security barrier away from the crowds.
Again, I'm a good head shorter than everyone else so I get a lovely amount of armpit sweat and body heat which makes it impossible to breathe, and it just isn't nice! At concerts I always go seated at whatever cost and if there is a moving crowd, I'll wait away from it until it dies down. Another thing to note actually is if you read my first M.E/CFS post, I cannot stand for long periods of time without passing out, so if I'm stuck in a crowd with no seat in sight....yeah, you get the idea.
